Adventure Ski Training Vacation with the North American Ski Training Center August 16-25, 2013!
OUR 20TH YEAR AT PORTILLO! The North American Ski Training Center (NASTC) is one of the top ranking world wide adventure ski schools. Developed by Chris and Jenny Fellows in 1994, NASTC has helped improve the skiing and brought in more adventure into the lives of thousands of skiers over the last twenty years. NASTC specializes in full-immersion, comprehensive ski training programs for strong intermediate to expert skiers. NASTC runs 20 different courses at the best resorts and mountains around the world. NASTC presents skiers with more than a “quick fix,” it’s holistic ski approach is designed to help skiers move beyond the plateaus that they have become stuck on. At NASTC it’s about the whole picture: technique, fitness, and equipment we will address all 3 components respective to your personal skiing. New NASTC students will receive a FMS (Functional Movement Screen) to evaluate their mobility and stability that are essential to good technique. The NASTC staff is comprised of the top ski instructors in the US, the members of the PSIA Demonstration Team, which means they are the teachers of teachers. You will make measurable improvements in your technique, tactics and confidence in a safe, fun, and highly professional way under their watchful eyes. You’ll be in small groups of 6 or fewer with the same Demo Team instructor all day, all week. This week-long course is suitable for skiers that have had little to no off-piste experience as well as for those whom have had more mileage in ungroomed conditions; terrain selection will be gauged according to the comfort level of each group. Backcountry tour options exist, as does group helicopter skiing. This is the ultimate ski vacation: a superb mountain, fun-loving people, delicious food, fine wine and a beautiful hotel. You are sure to improve, make new friends, and enjoy yourself. “It’s not just skiing-it’s NASTC!” Levels 6-9 (intermediate – expert).

Join us for the ultimate Telemark adventure: A week of intensive big-mountain Telemark instruction deep in the Chilean Andes. The Portillo Big Mountain Telemark Camp was developed in 2007 by Nick DeVore and Kayo Ogilby. It is the first international advanced Telemark camp of its kind and is open to any age expert Telemarker (able to ski all blacks). Whether you aspire to compete in big mountain events, want to take your Telemark skiing to the next level, or simply want to develop your technique in a stunning setting, we will help you hone in your Telemark skills so that you may be free and confident in any terrain.
Through on-piste and backcountry exploration we will focus on technique, awareness, visualization, safety, discipline, determination, and having an overall great time ripping some stunning lines. While perfecting the Telemark turn, you will also learn about big mountain and backcountry travel, including precaution, line choice, route finding, equipment use, snow stability, and overall awareness while enjoying the majestic mountains.
2013 Sessions: Portillo is a Telemarker’s dream: It is as close as one could ever get to a private resort and the coulars, spines, gladed snow fields, tremendous vertical, awe inspiring peaks overhead, lake views, easy access to back and side country skin and boot packs makes it the ultimate venue for this kind of camp.
This year Nick is recovering from a serious injury (he broke both his shins) and will be helping run the camp from a distance. To fill his shoes we are bringing in young Telemarking phenom Jake Sakson as a guest coach. If you have seen any of the Powder Whore movies in the last three years Jake needs on introduction. In addition he has been the first Telemark athlete to end up on the podium against an alpine field in the Big Mountain World Tour. We are excited to launch our sixth season this summer!
Portillo Big Mountain Telemark Camp’s cost (U$1.650*) includes:
