Olympic Athletes Love Portillo

The 2018 Winter Olympics in PeyongChang, South Korea have come and gone. As all Olympic Games do, they have left us with countless memories and moments that will be engraved in the hearts and minds of every fan.

The ski racing events that were held at the Yongpyong Resort and Alpensia Resort featured the best of the best on the biggest world stage the sport of ski racing knows. Competitors from all around the world donned the uniforms of their respective countries and left their hearts on the course. Household names like Lindsay Vonn, Aksel Svindal, and Marcel Hirscher rose to the pressured occasion and walked away with medals to remember their time in Korea and others still like Ester Ledecka and Ragnhild Mowinckel surprised the world with their skiing and consequent podium positions.

While the whole world becomes fans of ski racing for 16 days every four years, we at Ski Portillo keep our finger on the pulse a bit closer year in and year out because many of these Olympians come to train on our slopes every September and October.

Over the years, Portillo has consistently hosted the teams from Canada, the United States, Austria, and Norway, but we’ve also enjoyed the company of racers from Italy, France, and Spain. We love seeing the racers both in their element out on the snow and in OUR element… enjoying the downtime activities and amenities Portillo has to offer. And we can’t help but cheer a little louder for those who have given a little bit of themselves while training here in Portillo and taken a little bit of Portillo with them to the Olympic Games.

Here are a few of our favorite shots from some of the Olympic athletes both at Portillo and at the games. Congrats to all the athletes and we are already counting down to 2022.
