Guests often comment on Hotel Portillo, and it wouldn’t surprise most to hear people call it “rustic” or “old-school” or even “quirky.”  But what most guests don’t expect – and what they all tend to comment on after they arrive – is how big the hotel is.  The entire lower level of the hotel is dedicated to the extras that we work hard to provide in Portillo.  On this level you’ll find, among others: the fitness room, the yoga room, the disco, the free boot and ski check, the game room and climbing wall, and the full court gymnasium.  Everything is contained within the big, yellow hotel and whether young or old, everyone who takes a walk around finds something to do.

On Sunday night before dinner, the living room is the place to be to meet your fellow guests for the week as well as many of the familiar faces of Portillo.  The owner and general manager always stop by as well to say hi.

For keeping fit, we offer a full fitness center equipped with treadmills, stair-climbers, free-weights and a variety of other exercise equipment.

Next to the fitness center is our Yoga and stretching room that is open for stretching in the morning and throughout the day, and offers free Yoga classes each evening.

The hotel also features a full court, hardwood floor gymnasium that is outfitted for playing soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton and other sports.  Our entertainment staff often organizes sports tournaments which all guests may participate in.  Check the hotel’s bulletin boards for schedules.

What better way to unwind after a long day on the mountain than watching the Andean sunset from the warmth of our heated outdoor pool or hot-tub?  We also offer aqua-fitness classes in the evening and Watsu (aquatic therapy) sessions throughout the day.

Located in the fitness center, sauna and massage are popular ways to wind down in Portillo.  Be sure to make massage reservations in advance, as it is one of our more in-demand services.

Our beauty salon is available for haircuts, styling, make-up, waxing, nails, etc.  Check your guest handbook for hours of operation.

Most guests find that they have no desire to check email or browse the internet while in Portillo, but for those who must, we have a fully equipped internet café (available for a fee) with a high-speed broadband connection.  Wireless internet is also available in the living room and throughout the hotel free of charge.

Each evening there is a movie or other programming available in our cinema.  This is also where our ski school director performs tech-talks.  Check the hotel’s bulletin boards each day for the cinema schedule.

Our store is stocked with the most modern equipment, ski wear, accessories, personal care items and lots of Portillo gear and souvenirs.  Be sure to stop by and get a memento of your week in Portillo.

A not-so-common sight these days, it is normal to see children and adults playing one of our many board games in our comfortable, relaxing living room.  A staple of times past, and a fun throwback to simpler days.

If the kids aren’t playing games or lounging in the living room, there is a good chance they’re in our huge game room on the hotel’s lower level.  Equipped with foosball, billiards and ping pong tables, a climbing wall, and right next to the full court gym, kids and teens find hours of enjoyment in our game room.

On Thursdays, it’s all about the Sol de Portillo guest race.  The right side of our Plateau run serves as the slalom course for guests of all ages and abilities to participate in.  We encourage everyone to participate, and you may even want to take some race lessons earlier in the week from one of our instructors.  The race is just for fun, and we have an awards ceremony in the living room on Thursday night for all competitors and guests to enjoy.

Note: A special Sol de Portillo race for children in our kids camp not able to ski Plateau takes place the same day on the El Corralito run.

On Friday nights, the Ski School performs an entertaining torchlight parade on our Plateau run.  Perfect views of the spectacle are available from our sun deck next to the living room.  If you dare, you can ask our ski school director and he may allow you to participate!

Doctors and two nurses provide first-aid and general medicine needs.  The health clinic is located on the lower level of the hotel.  In case of emergency, contact the front desk 24 hours a day.
