PORTILLO SERVICE

Not only are we famous for our skiing, we’re also famous for our service. Portillo boasts 450 employees – that’s one per guest – to make sure your stay is memorable. The people who work at Portillo are like a big family, and by the end of the week our guests have become part of the family too. Our employees are warm friendly people who love what they do. Ask how long they've been with Portillo and you’ll be surprised. Fifteen years or longer is about the average! Jaime, our head bartender, makes the best pisco sours in Chile. (Pisco sour is made of pisco and lemon...very Chilean, very Portillo, very tasty.)

At the entrance to the dining room you will meet Juan, our maitre 'D. He'll ask which seating time you prefer, 8:30 pm or 9:30 pm, and then he will offer you a table that will be yours for the week. During the week, Juan will be making certain that you are being served as you wish to be served. Your waiter and busboys stay with you for the week, too, and they are an entertaining group of people.

We know our guests greatly appreciate the service provided by our housekeeping staff. Housekeepers live on each floor, so they are always there to assist you and your needs. Think of them as your personal valets, who can provide you with an extra pillow, a band-aid, mend a shirt or whatever you need to have done.

Portillo's excellent service continues at the equipment checkrooms, the ski and snowboard-tuning center, the ski school and on the slopes. Wherever you are in Portillo, you'll find a smiling, friendly staff. Our bellhops are available day and night to help you with whatever you need. Our Assistant Manager, Alfredo Torres, will help fix whatever may not be quite right for you. Our Portillo Tours & Travel representative will take care of your travel planning.

Orlando Zapata and Rafael Tobar are two front desk executives. Orlando is in charge of accounting and Rafael is in charge of reception and reservations. They will usually be on hand to welcome you when you arrive and to ensure that your stay is better than expected.

And our General Manager, Michael Purcell, is making sure all departments are functioning smoothly so that your vacation does as well. We are proud of our service and we know that it is an integral part of any vacation.
