New Wine Week at Portillo for July 2019!
Some of the most loved specialty weeks at Portillo of the entire season are our wine weeks. Which is why we couldn’t be more excited to announce an additional week dedicated to the delicious wine of Chile for the 2019 season. Monday through Friday during the week of July 13th-20th will feature various wines from a different Chilean vineyard each day for our aprés hour. While parents are working on refining their palettes, kids will have their own set of activities to keep the fun going off the slopes. Laser paintball, magic shows, cooking classes, and more will keep the young ones occupied Monday through Friday while a magic show for the whole family will bring the oohs and ahhs on Sunday.
The following schedule of vineyards visiting Portillo during this week is as follows:
From the Talagante region in the Maipo Valley, Undurraga is best known for its Cabernet Sauvignons, Carmeneres, and Altazor blends. They also have a nice selection of sparkling wines from both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.
New to the scene, Kuriman couldn’t have picked a more well-respected wine-producing area to set up shop. The Apalta region of the Colchagua Valley has been producing high-quality red varietals for decades. This small-scale producer uses both ancient and modern techniques.
Vinteisquero has vineyards in both the Apalta region and in Trinidad where the cellar and barrel room are as well. This past March, Bina Ventisquero was named best Chilean producer at the Berliner Wein Trophy, one of the most prestigious wine tastings in Europe.
Viña Concha y Toro
The largest wine producer (and oldest, established in 1883) in Latin American, Concha y Toro has vineyards in six premier wine producing valleys in Chile. They are most famous for Casillero del Diablo, one of the most recognizable lines of wine in the world.
Viña Perez Cruz
This family-owned winery prides itself of sustainability and wines that are produced and bottled on site in the Maipo Alto Valley. Their Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva is the crown jewel of its wine selection, but other complex reds make this vineyard stand out as well.
