Pro Athletes Love Portillo
No matter where pro skiers and snowboarders call home, it’s a pretty sure bet they’re all looking to extend their winters. Enter, the Southern Hemisphere and more specifically, Portillo! Over the years, we have had the honor of hosting multitudes of professional skiers and snowboarders including Chris Davenport, Shane McConkey, Jamie Anderson, Lynsey Dyer, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, and Angel Collinson, to name just a few.
Whether they come to film with a movie crew, shoot with a magazine, or simply want to maintain being on skis longer than the Northern Hemisphere allows, we love having them! Watching them effortlessly flow down the Lake Run or gazing up as they hike higher and higher in search of cliffs to drop or couloirs to snake through are sights to behold. After all, they aren’t professionals for no reason!
With the atmosphere and vibe at Portillo being so friendly and inclusive, it’s easy to rub shoulders with your skiing heroes at dinner, the bar or the disco once everyone’s skiing is finished for the day. Buy a pisco sour for Chris Davenport and he’ll indulge you with tales of his ascent of Mount Everest. Jump on the bar to dance with Wendy Fisher and she’ll give you tips on your dance moves. Tell Mike Douglas he was your idol growing up and he’ll admonish you for making him feel old, but then smile and reminisce about the Salomon 1080s and Pocket Rockets until the wee hours of the night.
When these pros come to visit and post their images of Portillo on their popular social pages, we can’t help but get a little star struck ourselves! Here are a few of our favorites.
